So, I need to start at the beginning.
February 13- I took off work on this Friday, and Jason and I headed to Cape May, New Jersey for an evening of romance. Seeing how the next day was Valentine's Day AND Jason's Birthday, we thought we'd spend a romantic weekend, back at Cape May. We stayed at the Victorian Lace Inn again, in the Cork Suite. The fire place, king size bed, porch overlooking the street (can almost see the ocean) and the homemade breakfast in the morning! Friday we spent time on the board walk, the beach, walking around downtown Cape May, and we had dinner at the Pilot House. I asked Jason if we could wake up early Saturday morning for the sunrise (since we hadn't seen a sunrise since our Rehoboth trip) and he told me that if I wake him up, he'll go. Little did I know what was in store for me (I'd pretty much given up, because I did tell me he shouldn't propose on a holiday!). So Saturday morning rolls around, and I woke up, and got Jason out of bed nice and early. It was FREEZING cold down on the beach, but we found a spot, and I spread the blanket out and started taking pictures of the sun coming up over the horizon. Jason sat down next to me and started referring back to one of the songs from our first CD. And next thing I know, he was proposing, asking me to marry him! I was ecstatic! A little surprised, but sooooooo excited! I called both sides of the family from the beach to share the great news! (And I had to hold the phone about 3 feet away from my ear when I told me mother that he'd FINALLY proposed!) So that's how THAT started.
I went into overdrive when we got home from the weekend. Saturday night I had already gotten out all the ideas that I had been working on (I've only been planning this wedding for a year....I knew Jason was the one). Over the next few weeks I had looked at some wedding venue sites online. In early March Jason and I saw our first venue. It was pretty cool, and I loved it. But I knew I couldn't stop (plus Jason didn't fall in love with it. So then we started seeing place, after place, after place....not finding 'the one', even though Appleford was pretty amazing. We saw a total of seven places. After seeing six places, I was getting tired of looking at places. But we were told to look until 'the one' came about. Jason was looking online at more venues when he came across a Golf Club, right up the road from us, that I had looked at as well, but never acted upon. We made the plan to go see it. Well, folks, let me say. When we walked in there and saw the place, I fell in love. It's just very unique!
Here's a list of the places we saw:
1. Robert Ryan Catering- The Columbia Station
2. Springton Manor Farm
3. Appleford Estate
4. Concordville Inn
5. Mendanhall Inn
6. Chester Valley Golf Course
7. River Crest Golf Club and Preserve
Of course, number 7 is the one we fell in love with! We just returned our contract and deposit about a week ago. So our date is set and things are rolling.
So here's what we've got so far:
1. Venue- check
2. Photographer- in the midst
3. DJ- in the midst
4. Videographer- pretty sure it's set....
5. Flowers- no need to worry yet
6. Invitations- Katie is designing them for us!! :) Yay for sister-in-laws that do the marketing/design stuff!
7. Favors- soooo many cool ideas!
8. WEDDING DRESS- I'm apparently not allowed to go! "It's too soon. You know you'll find something, fall in love, and be upset when it's not there when you're ready to buy it." Darn that boy for being so smart. But I'm not going to hold off much longer!
9. Wedding Color- Almost positive, we'll be doing Blue! :)
So much more is needed, and so much more will happen. But there's a start to everything. Tomorrow I will be seeing the second photographer (without Jason...he's gotta work). I will keep you posted on the events and all the planning! :)
